Should I turn to mediation to resolve my custody dispute?

If you are in the midst of a child custody or parenting time dispute, chances are that you have been given (or are about to receive) a great deal of advice regarding what you are entitled to or how the court may view you (as a man or a woman) and whether you should fight for your rights based on these impressions. Unfortunately, these preconceived notions are what fuel many people’s emotional stances and may lead to the building of emotional walls.

Why child support may not be as daunting

Let’s face it, those who are ordered to pay child support may not always like to do so. To some, a child support obligation may be like a unsanctioned version of spousal maintenance because so many parents who receive such support spend it on many other things besides the child. Because of this, some parents (particularly those who pay support), may believe that raising a child in your home may be cheaper.

How recent divorcees can make 2015 great

For many new divorcees, the holiday season was either a boost of emotion and self esteem or a complete emotional drain. For those who pulled through fine, having family and friends around to help in avoiding the doldrums was likely key. But after New Year’s visitors leave, decorations are taken down, and normal (dull, depressing) life starts again.

Preparing for an interview with a divorce attorney

In our first post of the New Year, we reminded our readers of how important it would be to build on a Christmas truce; especially for those couples who were still married and were merely considering divorce. As January rolls along, it is possible that the holiday truce may break down, and it may be time to really think about divorce.
